After business criticism: Cabinet withdraws resolution on employee reservation from consideration

According to the People’s Deputy, 2 sources in the government confirmed to him that after the publication of the resolution on reservations, the issue was removed from consideration at today’s Cabinet meeting.
He noted that the final approval of the document will not be on October 16, in particular in the previously planned form. According to the deputy, in the morning the government still planned to issue a resolution for approval at 3:30 p.m.
The document will be subject to further consultations and significant revisions, with particular attention paid to the risks identified by business representatives.
Zheleznyak called this an interim result and thanked everyone who joined the discussion, as well as colleagues who supported the relevant resolution in the Verkhovna Rada.
It was previously reported that Ukraine is preparing changes to the rules for booking military conscripts. The project provides for reducing limits for enterprises in the defense-industrial complex, energy, and part of the utilities sector, as well as the creation of a new body that will influence the granting of the status of a critically important enterprise.
Later, Oleksandr Fedienko, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, warned that the government’s proposed changes to the rules for reserving military personnel could create risks for parents with many children, students and other categories of citizens who have a deferment from mobilization for certain reasons. Employers may begin to lay off such workers in order to maintain the ability to reserve other employees.
Subsequently, on October 13, the Cabinet of Ministers approved amendments to the rules for reserving conscripts. They concern the number of employees that companies will be able to reserve, as well as the procedure for granting the status of a critical enterprise. However, the resolution still needs to be finalized.
