All product categories have become significantly more expensive in Ukraine: State Statistics Service showed record growth

The State Statistics Service reported that prices for all major products in Ukraine have increased significantly over the year: in June 2025, inflation for consumer goods reached 23.2%, while the overall consumer price index was only 14.3%. The highest jump was recorded for apples (+195.5%) and cabbage (+150.3%), indicating an unprecedented overheating of the food market.

This became known from data from the State Statistics Service.

The State Statistics Service recorded shock inflation for basic products: apples increased in price almost threefold – from 26.9 UAH/kg in June 2024 to 79.5 UAH/kg in June 2025 (+195.5%), cabbage – 2.5 times to 28.2 UAH/kg (+150.3%), carrots – by 67% to 49.7 UAH/kg.

Meanwhile, eggs rose in price by 62.7% (to UAH 53.6/dozen), sunflower oil by 37.2% (UAH 80.6/liter), chicken fillet by 35.8% (UAH 214.6/kg). Prices for flour (+36.1%), butter (+33.4%) and vegetables such as beets, onions and potatoes (from +8% to +36%) also increased significantly.

According to the State Statistics Service, among other changes:

  • Bread made from premium flour rose in price by +24.9%, loaf – +22.6%, pasta – +19.8%.
  • Milk with a fat content of up to 2.6% rose in price by +21.8%, soft cheeses by +20.4%, sour cream with a fat content of up to 15% by +25.2%.
  • Meat: beef +20%, pork +35.5%, chicken carcasses +30.4%.
  • Cereals: buckwheat +24.5%, semolina +29.3%, barley – record +47%.

Overall, food prices became more expensive by 23.2%, while consumer inflation increased by only 14.3%.

Experts attribute the sharp price increase to a combination of factors: poor harvests, logistics problems, reduced supply on the market, high demand, and general inflation. Seasonal vegetables and fruits are especially sensitive to these factors.

Since food inflation is significantly higher than average, Ukrainians should take this into account in their daily budget. It is recommended:

  • Planning purchases based on promotions and seasonal discounts;
  • Switching to less costly alternatives;
  • Study of government programs to support the agricultural sector that can stabilize prices.

Such market overheating requires appropriate measures by the government and business to reduce pressure on consumers due to increased product availability.

Thus, the rise in food prices has affected all the most necessary categories from vegetables to meat, which will significantly reduce the purchasing power of family budgets. While politicians are looking for answers, consumers are spending more and more on food.

It was previously reported that in Ukraine, bread prices will rise in the near future , both white and rye. The main reason is the shortage of rye due to the reduction in sown areas and a drop in yields, which has already caused a rapid increase in flour prices. Producers warn that the price increase could reach 20% by the end of the year.
