The war with Iran is taking a heavy toll on US President Donald Trump’s popularity. His approval rating has fallen to its lowest level since the start of his second term, and most Americans do not believe the conflict is justified.

Reuters reports this.

According to the survey, only 34% of Americans approve of Trump’s performance as president, the lowest level in his entire second term.

At the same time, only 24% of those surveyed believe that the war with Iran was worth the costs and consequences. On the other hand, every second American is convinced that this conflict did not bring the expected result and did not justify itself.

US citizens also do not assess the consequences of the war for the country’s international position very positively. Only 23% of respondents believe that Washington has become stronger in its confrontation with Tehran after the conflict. On the other hand, 35% are convinced that the United States’ position has only worsened.

In addition, Americans are in no hurry to believe in the success of the new agreements between Washington and Tehran. Almost two-thirds of those surveyed – 63% – doubt that the agreement signed with the participation of Trump will be able to ensure lasting peace between the countries.

Only 18% of respondents believe that current diplomatic steps can truly end tensions between the US and Iran.

The poll was conducted from June 18 to 22 among 1,262 American adults. The results have a margin of error of about three percentage points.

Previously, “Pryamiy” reported that the US and Iran have agreed to create a special “line of communication ” that will help ensure the safe passage of merchant ships through the Strait of Hormuz and prevent possible incidents.
