Another Dark Night in Kyiv, but the Spirit Endures

Another terrible night hit Kyiv as a couple of dozen Shahed drones approached the city. Most were shot down nearby, while loud air defense explosions rattled the capital.
We are all awake now, glued to social media, which is full of horrifying footage: fires, destroyed civilian homes, people screaming for help under concrete slabs. Exhausted rescuers are once again clearing the rubble. This nightmare has been going on for 11 years, and for the past three and a half years, there has been no truly safe place in Ukraine.
“Kellogg has left…” — the most common “joke” on social media. “Let’s buy him an apartment in Kyiv.” But what about Kharkiv, Kherson, Dnipro, Sumy, Odesa, Chernihiv, Kramatorsk, Slovyansk, Zaporizhia, and Mykolaiv, where high-ranking visitors arrive far less often than in Kyiv, or hardly ever?
How much longer will this genocide and killing of Ukrainians continue? And how much longer must we endure? Yet endure we must.
Why is Russia terrorizing the Ukrainian capital again after a three-week pause? Is this yet another blatant slap in the face of Trump’s so-called peacemaking efforts?
Clearly, this is a signal that Moscow has no intention of stopping the war. On the contrary, it is raising the stakes ahead of the next visit by the Ukrainian delegation to New York. The United States should understand that Putin’s intent to destroy Ukraine remains unchanged, and must not delay in putting pressure on the aggressor and ultimately holding the Russian Federation accountable.
Lord, protect all those awaiting help now. Give strength to our air defenses and rescuers. Grant the world the wisdom to stop this evil.
Recall, on the night of August 28, Kyiv was subjected to one of the largest attacks in recent months. Russian troops simultaneously used strike drones, ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as hypersonic “Daggers”, which led to large-scale destruction in several areas of the city. In the morning, it became known that four deaths, including two children, and more than two dozen people were injured. According to the Air Force, the Russians launched 629 air attack vehicles. Air defense neutralized 589 targets.
