“Back in the same boat”: why Trump still trusts Putin

The United States still believes the promises of the Kremlin, which continues to lie and make excuses to stall for time and divide the anti-Putin coalition. At the same time, the meeting with the Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin in Alaska has taught US President Donald Trump nothing and he is “stepping on the same rake again.”
This opinion was expressed on the air of “Pryamoy” by the executive director of the Economic Discussion Club, Oleg Pendzin.
“No one knows what happened during the phone call between Trump and Putin. The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister is talking about postponing the meeting, which no one agreed on… Yes, this is a classic version of referring to a little erotic journey of the esteemed Mr. Trump and his administration. Once again, by the way,” Pendzin ironically says.
At the same time, he expressed surprise that the United States still believes in the Kremlin’s lies and promises.
“Sometimes I am surprised by the situation when our American partners – I won’t say “friends” – really don’t learn anything. It’s just some kind of horror. That is, they constantly fall for the same rake. And I have the feeling that this, you know, some kind of aesthetic pleasure is obtained as a result. Because Russia is stalling for time, coming up with excuses, looking for opportunities to break up the anti-Putin coalition. At the same time, America is completely calm about it. Losing ratings, losing the trust of partners, wasting time, it continues to do so,” the economic expert explains.
According to him, the meeting with Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15 taught US President Donald Trump nothing and he is “stepping on the same rake again.”
“Let’s remember Anchorage. How long did it take for Trump to finally wipe his spit-stained face with a napkin and say: “Indeed, this is a complete lie.” A call from Russia – and that’s it, as if there was no rubbing and nothing happened… And again let’s wait two or three weeks, again the US parliament postponed the bill on sanctions against Russia,” Pendzin recalls.
“How many more times does Trump have to step on the same rake to finally understand that you can’t negotiate with the person sitting in the Kremlin in principle. And here it is again two weeks, another meeting between Rubio and Lavrov, again it won’t take place. We understand that Trump won’t fly to Budapest, Putin won’t fly to Budapest. Because there won’t be anything to fly with. Because the Russians have been bargaining again for two or three weeks, or even a month,” noted Oleg Pendzin, executive director of the Economic Discussion Club.
As a reminder, US President Donald Trump recently had a telephone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. During the talks, the presidents agreed to organize a summit in Budapest . However, the groundwork for this meeting was to be provided by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov .
It later became known that the expected talks between Rubio and Lavrov, which were supposed to take place this week, have been postponed indefinitely . According to journalists, Washington concluded that the Kremlin’s position on the war against Ukraine has practically not changed. That is why Rubio will not advise US President Donald Trump to hold a meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Budapest.
As reported by “Pryamy”, the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Budapest is currently suspended . According to media reports, although the interstate dialogue between Rubio and Lavrov took place in a constructive tone, both sides, according to President Trump, are not yet ready to move on to organizing a summit.
