Billions in losses: how sanctions and strikes on refineries are collapsing Russia’s revenues

Since mid-May, the United States has reinstated sanctions against Russian oil, coinciding with large-scale attacks by Ukrainian drones on the enemy’s energy infrastructure.

Oleg Pendzin spoke about the economic consequences of these events on the air of “Pryamoy”, noting that the previous easing of restrictions by American partners is no longer valid due to the situation on the market.

“Friendly Ukrainian drones have actually limited the ability of the Russian Federation to increase oil sales on the world market by 30 to 40%, according to various estimates. That is, thanks to Ukrainian drones that imposed their sanction restrictions, the total amount of additional funds that the Russian Federation did not receive is about $10 billion,” the program guest explained.

According to him, the Russian economy showed a 1.5% drop in gross domestic product in January-February. Although a slight increase was recorded in March due to high world prices for raw materials, the overall figure for the first quarter remained negative.

Attacks on legitimate targets, such as oil refineries, are aimed at depleting the aggressor’s resources and forcing negotiations. Moreover, the situation may worsen for Moscow after traffic in the Strait of Hormuz stabilizes, which will lead to a decrease in world energy prices, Oleg Pendzin is convinced.

Let us remind you that a new fuel crisis is intensifying in Russia – the shortage of AI-95 gasoline is already going beyond the limits of stock market reports and is noticeably hitting the domestic market. According to industry analysts, unmet demand for AI-95 gasoline in the Russian Federation has already exceeded 26 thousand tons. The reasons were emergency and unscheduled repairs of oil refineries, a decrease in oil refining volumes, and a seasonal increase in demand.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced strikes on a number of facilities in Moscow and the Moscow region , including a refinery, an oil depot, and a microelectronics production facility. Previously, these facilities were protected by a huge number of air defense systems, but something strange happened, the military noted.

At the same time, the ability of Ukrainian drones to hit targets in a quarter of the territory of the Russian Federation is becoming a reality, covering regions inhabited by more than 140 million people. Although the psychological pressure on the enemy population is growing , it has not yet led to a mass awareness of guilt.
