The likelihood of an organized rebellion among the Russian leader’s inner circle is minimal due to tight control by the security services and systematic purges of the opposition.
Military-political analyst Dmitry Snegirev expressed skepticism about rumors of internal coups on the air of “Pryamoye”, recalling the fate of Shoigu, who is currently effectively isolated from real influence.
“Social upheavals on the territory of the occupying country, in my opinion, are possible only in national republics. What is called the autochthonous “Russian population” is incapable of appropriately organized resistance,” the guest noted.
He added that comparisons between 2026 and the events of 1917 are already being heard in the Russian information space, which indicates the regime’s internal fears. However, the Kremlin is trying to relieve tension through forced mobilization specifically in national republics such as Tatarstan, Buryatia, and the North Caucasus regions.
According to the analyst, such a strategy allows the authorities to simultaneously cover the needs of the front and physically exterminate the active male population of the enslaved peoples, which could become the basis for protests. While Putin is hiding in bunkers, fearing the fate of foreign partners, the regime continues to use repressive methods to maintain stability, – summed up Dmitry Snegirev.
As a reminder, on April 23, Timur Ivanov, Deputy Defense Minister of the aggressor country, Sergei Shoigu, was detained in Russia. British intelligence called this arrest the most serious scandal in the Ministry of Defense since 2012. According to the official version of Russian law enforcement agencies, the official was detained on suspicion of receiving a bribe. However, as noted by the Center for Countering Disinformation, such an explanation may raise doubts.
As reported by “Pryamiy”, the internal situation in Russia is showing signs of destabilization due to economic hardship and a protracted conflict. According to official Russian polls, the level of distrust in the dictator has reached 24% , which is the highest figure since February 2022.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian intelligence agencies have obtained recordings of telephone conversations between Elvira Nabiullina, the head of the Russian Central Bank, who in private gave extremely pessimistic forecasts about the stability of the Russian financial system in the coming months. These data differ significantly from the official Kremlin propaganda.
By the way, the leader of the Russian communists, Gennady Zyuganov, has stated that there is a risk of a repeat of the 1917 revolution in Russia amid economic problems and growing discontent. According to him, the Russian economy is rapidly deteriorating, and he called the first quarter of the year a “complete disaster.” Zyuganov called on the authorities to urgently make financial and economic decisions, otherwise the country could face a scenario similar to the events of 1917 in the fall.
