Billions in the case: will Galushchenko be released on bail?

Economic and political expert Borys Kushniruk, on the air of “Pryamoy” , analyzed the possibility of paying a bail of 425 million hryvnias for the person involved in the “Midas” case, former Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko.
In his opinion, the main obstacle is not the lack of money, but the inability to confirm its pure origin through financial monitoring.
“The only question is that these should be legal funds. But he and his entourage may not have such legal funds… They are talking about much larger amounts. 5 billion euros in crypto. And this is only a small part of all the swindling that has been going on since 2019,” Kushniruk noted.
The expert emphasized that Galushchenko does not appear to be a leading figure in the processes that have been ongoing since 2019. He suggests that there are other areas of embezzlement, in particular at customs or through the sale of sanctions, which the investigation has not yet touched upon. According to the studio guest, the amount of the bail is only a fraction of the total amount of assets that appear in such stories.
Kushniruk also mentioned the role of Timur Mindich, whom he considers a key participant in the scheme. Without the arrest of this person, it will be extremely difficult to unravel the entire chain of asset redistribution. According to the guest, the person involved could expose other participants in energy deals in order to ease his own situation.
Recall that on the night of February 15, NABU and SAPO detained former Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko while he was trying to cross the border. It is noted that the ex-minister was removed from the train . The National Anti-Corruption Bureau later confirmed this information.
The next day, NABU officially announced suspicion against Herman Galushchenko in the “Midas” case. The former Minister of Energy of 2021-2025 is charged with money laundering and participation in a criminal organization.
On February 17, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court chose a preventive measure for the ex-minister, allowing him to post bail in the amount of 200 million hryvnias . If the money is paid, Galushchenko will be prohibited from traveling outside the Kyiv region and communicating with other defendants in the case, in particular Mindich, Zukerman, Mironyuk, and Basov.
