“Carthage” Destroyed – Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko Resigns

Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has submitted his resignation. Kravchenko announced this on his Telegram channel.

He called it a conscious political decision. “I don’t want the position of Prosecutor General to be used as a tool for political confrontation. My position on the charges remains unchanged,” Ruslan Kravchenko said.

As a reminder, the charges against Kravchenko are related to a high-profile corruption scandal that arose as a result of the NABU and SAPO’s special operation “Carthage.” As part of this investigation, anti-corruption agencies uncovered a criminal organization that was protecting a network of fraudulent call centers.

The organization’s members laundered the proceeds of their crimes through a number of schemes. They spent over 20 million hryvnias on real estate, jewelry, and valuable movable property.

According to investigators, another 12 million hryvnias are assets that the organization’s management laundered by re-registering them to third parties to conceal their actual ownership. Specifically, this includes real estate in a popular apartment complex near the Carpathian Mountains.

In addition, the group’s members deposited more than 10 million hryvnias into the bank accounts of their close associates, under the guise of legal income allegedly obtained from entrepreneurial activity.

According to investigators, Serhiy Kropiva, deputy head of the International Cooperation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office and a close friend of Ruslan Kravchenko, was at the center of this scheme. Kropiva was arrested on September 4. The following day, September 5, Serhiy Kropiva was taken into custody.

On September 5, 2026, Kravchenko’s offices were searched. Recordings of conversations were also released, revealing that Serhiy Kropiva organized international trips, paid for expensive hotels in Madrid, and paid for restaurants for Kravchenko and his family. An elite estate in Kozyn used by the Prosecutor General was also discovered. Kropiva organized renovations at this estate, including installing a gas generator.

Initially, Kravchenko denied any involvement in covering up illegal call centers and laundering proceeds from their activities, stating that he had no intention of resigning voluntarily. He also noted that he had been renting a house in Kozyn since May 2026, and that renovations had been underway there prior to that.

In addition, on Monday, September 7, he announced the possibility of conducting internal investigations against seven employees who are part of Sergei Krapiva’s entourage.
