Today, September 12, a suspect in the murder of activist Charlie Kirk, who is considered a political ally of US President Donald Trump, was arrested.
Fox News reports this, citing Utah Governor Spencer Cox.
“We had him in custody. On the evening of September 11, a family member of Tyler Robinson (the suspect – ed.) contacted a family friend, who called the police with information that Robinson had admitted to them that he had caused this incident (Kirk’s murder – ed.). Robinson was identified,” Cox said.
He explained that on Friday, September 12, law enforcement officers saw Robinson wearing the same clothes that he was seen wearing on campus surveillance cameras.
In particular, it is noted that investigators interviewed a member of Robinson’s family, who said that Robinson had become “more political” in recent years. During a dinner on September 10, he told another family member that Charlie Kirk was coming to the University of Utah. They discussed why they did not like Kirk and his views.
“The relative also said Kirk was spreading hate,” Cox added.
Recall that conservative activist, founder of the organization Turning Point USA and close ally of President Donald Trump Charlie Kirk was shot dead during a speech at Utah Valley University . This attack was already the 46th case of shooting at educational institutions in the United States since the beginning of the year.
Earlier, American law enforcement agencies detained a man suspected of involvement in the shooting that killed prominent ultra-conservative activist Charlie Kirk. However, after questioning, he was fired.
As reported, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has released a photo of the suspect in the fatal attack on American political activist and blogger Charlie Kirk. Law enforcement officials have called on citizens to help identify the man, who, according to investigators, may be involved in the tragic shooting at Utah Valley University.
