Parliamentary activity has been jeopardized by an acute crisis within the parliamentary body and a chronic lack of votes for decision-making. The next plenary session was canceled, which indicates deep internal contradictions among the elected representatives.
This was reported on the air of “Pryamoy” by political analyst Volodymyr Tsybulko.
He noted that the situation around the legislative body resembles a vicious circle, from which there is currently no obvious way out. “The situation is reaching a stalemate, because it is unclear how they will get out of this real impasse,” the studio guest added.
According to him, dozens of parliamentarians are expressing a desire to resign, citing psychological pressure and emotional exhaustion. While the military, energy workers, and rescue workers are working at the limit of human capabilities, confusion reigns in the session hall.
Tsybulko is convinced that the responsibility for this state of affairs also lies with the president, who brought these people to power, promising professional governance of the state. In the sixth year of his term, it turned out that basic skills in lawmaking and state responsibility began to be forgotten, leaving the country at a critical point, the political scientist is indignant.
He emphasized that delays in the work of legislators directly affect the well-being of citizens and the country’s defense capability. “I would say this is a crisis of public administration. This is not a crisis of parliamentarism. The fact is that it was Bankova who set up the deputies for these “envelope” payments, effectively making them criminals,” Volodymyr Tsybulko explains.
As is known, the parliamentary coalition has encountered serious difficulties in passing government bills. The Verkhovna Rada has effectively stopped supporting government initiatives. In addition, the crisis in parliament is deepening due to ambiguous statements by the state’s top leadership regarding sending to the front those deputies who plan to resign early.
Moreover, attempts to put pressure on the parliament only exacerbate the political crisis within Ukraine, so it is worth avoiding brazen communication from the leadership , which can undermine stability in a difficult period, and there is also no need to turn the Armed Forces of Ukraine into a kind of horror story for people’s deputies, – said on the air of “Pryamoy” participant of the Russian-Ukrainian war Oleksiy Petrov.
The current situation in the Ukrainian parliament also threatens the pace of rapprochement with the European Union due to internal disorganization. Despite the commitment to adopt dozens of legislative acts in various clusters, work has effectively stopped, and the lack of votes and ignoring minority opinions create conditions for deep stagnation.
According to Ivan Us, a candidate of economic sciences, the parliamentary crisis directly affects the fulfillment of obligations to international creditors. The delay in voting for the IMF “beacons” puts the social sphere, including pension payments, under attack .
