Dignity and Freedom Day: Ukrainians again need faith in victory

I decided to remind you of this again today: Maidan is faith. Often irrational, but ultimately victorious.
When I went to the country’s main square at the end of November, I believed something would come of it. Although there was very little reason to hope.
A weak opposition, an aggressive and self-confident government, an apathetic majority of society, and a slightly worried West.
But Ukraine woke up again, managed not just to repeat the Orange Maidan, but to surpass it.
When I stood at the barricade on Instytutska Street on the night of December 11, I believed: we will survive until morning, we will win. And my mind shouted: “Look! There are more of those on the other side, they are stronger, they cannot be stopped.”
Stopped.
During the “long night from February 18 to 20,” reason dictated the need to withdraw in order to have the strength to return later. And we began to prepare for life after defeat – we exchanged contacts in Western and Central Ukraine, agreed on places for future meetings, and prepared to deploy the underground.
And faith forced me to stay on the Maidan, to meet the sun on the morning of February 19, together with several hundred madmen who were never moved.
To see those covered with bloodstained flags the next morning and a crowd of alive and fresh people who, walking along Proriznaya Street, asked “Where is the Maidan?”
Therefore, let us remember the Maidan, because it is about faith and victory, and about faith in victory, which are needed no less now than twelve years ago.
