Distraction or real threat: what’s happening on the border with Belarus

There is a specific revival on the border with Belarus, but there are currently no signs of preparations for a large-scale offensive. Such actions are aimed at dispersing Ukrainian defense resources and diverting attention from the main areas of the front.
This was stated on the air of “Pryamoy” by Vadym Denysenko, the head of the analytical center “Dilova Stolytsia”.
According to him, such steps were a response to Ukraine’s introduction of sanctions restrictions against the family of the Belarusian leader.
“As of now, at most, we can talk about distracting attention and that after Ukraine imposed sanctions against Lukashenko’s sons, Lukashenko gave the order to take certain provocative actions in order to distract Ukraine’s attention,” Denysenko noted.
In his opinion, the Belarusian army and its leadership do not show readiness for direct combat operations. In addition to ground maneuvers, the use of balloons with repeaters has been recorded.
These technical means help coordinate the movement of strike drones in the northern regions of Ukraine, which is another element of supporting the aggression. Despite this, the lack of accumulation of equipment and manpower indicates an exclusively demonstrative nature of the actions, – emphasizes Vadym Denysenko.
On the eve of the meeting, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced “specific activity” on the part of Belarus on sections of the Ukrainian border. At the same time, the Center for Countering Disinformation emphasized that only minor provocations from the Belarusian side are currently possible.
Meanwhile, the special services of the occupying country are preparing a large-scale provocation on the territory of Belarus with elements of an operation “under a foreign flag”, with the aim of accusing Ukraine of sabotage on the territory of this country. According to the analytical department of the GI “Prava Sprava”, the Russian special services are preparing a provocation with strikes on oil refineries and warehouses with fuel and lubricants on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
