Drone hits radiation monitoring laboratory near Zaporizhzhia NPP: what is known

The drone attacked the external radiation monitoring laboratory of the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which is located outside the plant’s perimeter.

This was reported by the IAEA.

The incident occurred on May 3 and raised concerns about the safety of nuclear facilities in a war zone.

The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed that it had received information from the Zaporizhzhia NPP about a drone attack on the laboratory.

According to preliminary data, there are no injuries. It is also currently unknown whether the laboratory itself was damaged.

The IAEA said that their team had requested access to the facility to assess the situation on site.

The agency stressed that any attacks near nuclear facilities pose a serious threat to nuclear safety and could have dangerous consequences.

As a reminder, a drone killed a driver in a transport workshop near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant on Monday, April 27. International observers are already investigating the circumstances of the incident.
