On Friday, June 19, Ukraine’s number one tennis player, Elina Svitolina (WTA 8), will face Filipina’s Alexandra Eala in the quarterfinals of the WTA 500 tournament in Berlin.
This match will not start before 18:30 Kyiv time.
Elina confidently defeated her opponents during the previous two rounds of the tournament in Berlin – and in general she looks very strong this season, winning two tournaments in Auckland and Rome and reaching the quarterfinals of Roland Garros.
Her current opponent is Alexandra Eala. This season, she won the WTA 125 tournament in Birmingham, reached the semifinals in Auckland, and the quarterfinals in Dubai. Furthermore, the Filipina already caused a sensation in Berlin by knocking out world number two Elena Rybakina.
Svitolina and Eala have never met. While not downplaying the 21-year-old Filipino athlete’s abilities, bookmakers still consider the Ukrainian tennis player the favorite.
