Explosions heard in Russia and occupied Crimea: Azot plant hit
On the night of June 26, drones attacked several sites in Russia and the temporarily occupied Crimea. The Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk, Tula region, was hit, as well as the Kerch region, where locals reported a series of explosions and air defense operations. NASA FIRMS also records a fire in the area of the deployment of air defense systems (Pantsir S-1) and the airfield.
This was reported by Russian Telegram channels, as well as the Governor of the Tula Region, Dmitry Milyaev.

According to monitoring resources, smoke rose after the attack on the Azot plant, and the NASA FIRMS satellite service recorded a fire in the area of the Novomoskovskaya GRES.
According to Governor Dmitry Milyaev, an industrial enterprise in Novomoskovsk was damaged as a result of the drone attack. A private house was also damaged in the Shchekinsky district, one woman was injured, and the strike damaged a power line.
Azot is one of the largest producers of ammonia and nitrogen fertilizers in Russia. The enterprise, which is part of the Eurochem holding, also produces nitric acid, methanol, chlorine, caustic soda and other chemical products.
According to Reuters, in 2022-2024, Novomoskovsk Azot, together with the Nevinnomyssk Nitrogen Plant, supplied at least 38,000 tons of acetic acid and almost 5,000 tons of nitric acid to the Sverdlov Plant. These substances are used to produce explosives, including octogen and hexogen.
That same night, drones also attacked temporarily occupied Crimea. According to local Telegram channels, the drones were moving towards Kerch, and explosions were heard near the Kerch ferry crossing.
Following the series of explosions, residents of Kerch reported a strong smell of burning in various areas of the city. There was no official information about the consequences of the attack or possible casualties as of this morning.
At the same time, NASA FIRMS service recorded a fire in the area of the Pantsir-S1 air defense system and near the airfield. Monitoring resources continue to monitor the situation on the temporarily occupied peninsula.
That same night, drones also attacked Moscow and the Moscow region. The mayor of the Russian capital, Sergei Sobyanin, said that the first reports of air defense operations appeared at around 02:30. According to him, as of 05:20, Russian forces had allegedly shot down 36 drones.
“Emergency services specialists are working at the site of the debris fall,” he wrote.
Due to the attack, Moscow’s Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Sheremetyevo airports temporarily imposed restrictions on the arrival and departure of flights. Flights were operated only after approval from the relevant services.
As a reminder, on the night of Thursday, June 25, Ukrainian forces struck a number of fuel infrastructure facilities in Russia. Two oil refineries in Ufa and an oil depot in the Krasnodar Territory were under attack.
As reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he had approved a new 40-day operation by the Security Service of Ukraine, which is intended to increase pressure on Russia and force it to end the war.
