Head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office Oleksandr Klymenko stated that the State Financial Monitoring Service could more actively monitor funds abroad and the possibilities of legalization within the framework of the investigation of the Midas case.

This was reported by the ZN.UA publication.

In particular, the head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, Semen Kryvonos, emphasized that cooperation between the NABU and the State Financial Monitoring Service has improved. This happened after the information about the blocking of requests from anti-corruption bodies was made public.

“After this story, a large amount of funds was blocked, which was intended as a bail for one of the suspects in the Midas case. Finmonitoring blocked this amount of funds because it noticed suspicion of legalization, so one of the suspects remains in custody,” he explained.

In addition, according to the official, the anti-corruption authorities were informed about where the funds for other defendants were deposited. Detectives and prosecutors are already processing that information.

Klymenko, in turn, disagreed, noting that cooperation could be better if the State Financial Monitoring Service monitored these processes more actively.

“I don’t see any improvement at this time,” the head of the SAPO assured.

As part of other investigations, as he noted, the State Financial Monitoring Service actively provided information about funds abroad and the possibility of legalization.

However, currently, anti-corruption agencies do not know that they receive complete information in responses to requests, Kryvonos said.

“That is, the information has improved, but I agree that it could be much better,” the head of NABU concluded.

Earlier, NABU Director Semen Kryvonos stated that the anti-corruption bureau has been encountering difficulties in obtaining data from the State Financial Monitoring Service for a long time .
