He emphasized that the aggressor is using external threats to divert attention from internal problems and ultimately usurp power.

“The fact is that the specificity of empires does not lie in counting the number of personnel losses, but in the very fact of war. For them, the very fact of war is important, as an element of solving internal problems, usurping power, switching internal problems to problems of external threats,” explains Barna.

According to the military officer, Ukraine and the world should more actively support national movements within the Russian Federation. He noted that Russia is not mono-national, so anti-Russian sentiments in Tatarstan, the Caucasus, and the Far East can become a significant factor of pressure.

Using the traditions of the liberation warriors of these peoples can shake the Russian regime from within, while the occupying army continues its senseless offensives, Stepan Barna is convinced.

As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made several important statements in a new interview with Axios regarding the withdrawal of troops and the negotiation process. According to him, US President Donald Trump is pressuring Ukraine for territorial concessions in order to achieve peace, but this is “unfair.”

In addition, the head of state reported on progress in the military direction during the trilateral talks in the Ukraine-US-Russia format on ending the war. As Zelensky noted, all participants demonstrated a constructive position . In particular, this concerns mechanisms for monitoring a possible ceasefire.

In contrast, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed the opinion that a quick end to the war through negotiations can hardly be expected . “This war will only end when one of the sides is exhausted – either militarily or economically,” Merz believes.
