Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei was flown to Moscow on a Russian military plane due to his health and security concerns. He underwent successful surgery and is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital.
This is reported by Al Jarida .
A senior source close to Iran’s new supreme leader said Mojtaba was flown to Moscow in a secret operation due to health concerns and security concerns. The injuries sustained in the US-Israeli airstrikes on February 28 required specialized medical care that could not be provided in Iran due to the ongoing shelling.
Iranian security services were concerned about the possibility of information leaking about the new leader’s whereabouts through the tracking of doctors and specialists. For this reason, they approved the recommendation that he be treated in Russia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Massoud Pezeshkian, suggested that Mojtaba receive treatment in Russia. Iranian officials carefully considered the proposal, which was later approved.
Mojtabu arrived in Moscow on Thursday evening, where he received treatment from Russian and Iranian doctors accompanying him. The treatment is taking place in a private hospital located in one of the presidential palaces, with careful medical and special monitoring.
An Iranian source close to the reformists said there were doubts about the authenticity of the initial message attributed to Khamenei’s son, as it was inconsistent with other statements by Ali Larijani, the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council. The lack of an audio recording of the speech and the absence of Khamenei’s son in the public sphere reinforce these suspicions.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted at having information about Mojtaba’s whereabouts and condition, but did not disclose it. At a press conference, he said: “I will not provide him with life insurance,” which was taken as a hint that Tel Aviv had specific intelligence.
According to sources in Jerusalem, Israeli intelligence believes Mojtaba’s injuries may be more serious than previously thought. Al-Jarida reported that debris that fell near him during the airstrike on the residence caused injuries to the left side of his body from head to toe, rather than a direct hit to him.
As a reminder, the Assembly of Experts of Iran, at an extraordinary meeting, elected Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei as the country’s new supreme leader . He became the third spiritual leader of the republic after the death of his father.
Earlier it was reported that the newly elected Supreme Leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, was injured on the first day of the US-Israeli military operation. Later it became known that the injuries of the Supreme Leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, may prevent him from appearing in public . This is indicated by the lack of video or audio messages on behalf of the Iranian leadership.
