Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga said that the so-called “spirit of Anchorage” spoken of in Russia has no real meaning and exists only in their imagination.
He wrote about this on the social network X.
“Russians love to talk about the ‘spirit of Anchorage.’ As with any spirit, no one knows for sure what it is. But Russians believe in it and think everyone else should believe in it too. Reality makes one thing clear: if the ‘spirit of Anchorage’ ever existed, it is definitely dead now,” Sibiga wrote.
Sibiga explained that for Russia, “the lesson of Anchorage is that any peace plan developed without Ukraine is doomed to turn into a ghost and disappear. It is time for Moscow to stop believing in ghosts and instead respond to serious offers from Ukraine to sit down at the negotiating table and end the war.”
“The longer Putin refuses to accept the reality that he will never achieve any goals on the battlefield, the worse it will get for Russia,” the minister concluded.
Recall that an aide to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, Yuri Ushakov, said that Russia no longer expects the implementation of the agreements that were allegedly reached during the meeting between Putin and Donald Trump in Anchorage . According to him, Moscow is betting on achieving its own goals in the war against Ukraine.
