Ukraine needs about 250,000 additional troops to change the situation on the battlefield. Shortages of personnel and weapons are noted in a number of key areas of the front.
This is reported by The Times .
According to the publication, the shortage of forces is felt near Lyman, Siversk, Pokrovsk, and Sloviansk.
Journalists note that the urban areas of Pokrovska and Myrnograd, as well as Hulyaipole in the Zaporizhia region, are partially or almost completely under the control of Russian troops.
Further advance of the Russian army towards Zaporizhia could create a risk of more active use of kamikaze drones, similar to the situation in Kherson.
Ukrainian commanders emphasize that the lack of trained infantry and drone operators significantly limits defense capabilities.
“We need additional pilots for the drone units and more infantry to cover them,” one officer noted.
It was previously reported that the heavy losses of Russian military personnel on the battlefield are forcing the Kremlin to actively enlist the help of foreign mercenaries from a number of countries.
Recall that in January , Russian losses exceeded its replenishment by 9 thousand and amounted to almost 32 thousand people.
The day before, Syrsky reported that over the past 6 months, the number of Russian military personnel in Ukraine has remained almost unchanged and amounts to approximately 711-712 thousand people, including the operational reserve.
