Disabling the repeaters in Belarus will not stop the attacks of Russian “Shaheeds” on Ukraine, but it will change their nature. Russia will lose the ability to control drones in real time and conduct some aerial reconnaissance.
Advisor to the Minister of Defense Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov said this in an interview with “Social” .
According to Beskrestnov, after the relays are turned off, Russian troops will no longer be able to control Shahed drones in real time. From now on, the drones will only be able to fly according to predetermined GPS coordinates.
“Without repeaters, the Russians will no longer be able to control the Shahed in real time – attacks will only be carried out using GPS coordinates,” said Sergey Beskrestnov.
He noted that Russia would also lose the ability to use drones for reconnaissance. According to him, the network of repeaters allowed the occupiers to detect critical infrastructure, air defense positions and other targets.
In addition, according to the advisor to the Minister of Defense, Russian troops will no longer be able to carry out online attacks on moving targets, in particular locomotives and air defense systems, since this requires a mesh network and a radio control channel.
Beskrestnov also reported that Russia will lose the ability to search for corridors between Ukrainian interceptor drones. According to him, for this purpose, the occupiers installed upward-facing cameras on drones to identify areas where Ukrainian interceptors are absent.
Previously, Belarusian monitoring resources drew attention to an unusual change in Russian drone attacks . Over the past three days, Russian drones have not been recorded near the Ukrainian-Belarusian border, although they regularly flew this route in late spring and early summer.
The day before, the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that he had recently met with representatives of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky . According to him, through them he conveyed to the Ukrainian leader a call to “negotiate” and not “get heated.”
