Imitation of peace instead of real agreements: is the Kremlin ready to end the war?

Statements about the high readiness of peace agreements between Ukraine and Russia do not currently correspond to the real state of affairs in diplomacy. Any figures regarding the agreement of texts by 90 or 100 percent are empty, since in international relations the principle of complete agreement on all points applies.
This was stated on the air of “Pryamoy” by Rostyslav Pavlenko, a people’s deputy from “European Solidarity”.
“We understand that Putin does not need peace, but an imitation of negotiations,” he stressed, commenting on recent reports about a possible end to the war in a few weeks. He noted that the aggressor seeks only one thing – to suspend the restrictions that have begun to really destroy the Russian economy due to the fall in oil revenues.
Pavlenko is convinced that the Russian leadership is using diplomatic activity as a cover for regrouping forces, because history shows that Moscow agrees to a real peace only in a state of total exhaustion of the army. Currently, the occupiers continue terrorist tactics, striking at residential areas.
According to the People’s Deputy, to stop the enemy, it is necessary to increase financial pressure and work with partners on reparations mechanisms. If the current government is unable to implement these steps independently, options for creating governments of national unity remain on the table, – added the representative of “European Solidarity” Rostyslav Pavlenko.
As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelensky presented details of a 20-point draft basic document on the end of the war between Ukraine, the United States, Russia, and the European Union. The head of state also said that Russia’s reaction to the draft will become known after negotiations with the American side.
In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that if the issue of territories cannot be agreed upon during the negotiations, the entire peace plan may be put to a referendum . The President of Ukraine emphasized that the issue of territories is the most difficult in the peace plan, which states that in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions the contact line is fixed at the location of the troops on the date of the agreement – that is, “we stand where we stand.”
At the same time, political scientist Volodymyr Tsybulko expressed serious reservations about such plans on the air of “Pryamoy”. He is convinced that the main problem is the lack of publicity of the twenty points of the peace plan, which are to be put to a referendum. The political scientist suggested that one of the foreign parties may avoid ratifying the agreement and security commitments in its legislative body, which makes the upcoming referendum meaningless for obtaining real guarantees.
