In Zaporizhia, during the detention of a driver who was allegedly involved in a traffic accident, an attack occurred on patrol police officers. The man used an axe and tear gas.
This was reported to the patrol and National Police on April 24.
The incident occurred on April 9 in the Kosmichny district of the city. According to the investigation, patrol officers stopped a car that could have been involved in a traffic accident. The 27-year-old driver did not provide documents for inspection and tried to flee the scene.
The police caught up with the car. During a second attempt to escape, the driver lost control and drove into a ditch. After that, he abandoned the car and began to flee on foot, but was detained by patrol officers.
While talking to the man, his father intervened in the conflict. According to police, the 49-year-old man behaved aggressively, threatened with an axe, threw stones, and used tear gas against the police officers.
“After that, doctors examined both men and hospitalized them. One patrolman also required medical attention,” the police said.
The father was detained under Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He was informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 345 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine — threat or violence against a law enforcement officer. The sanction of the article provides for up to 5 years of imprisonment. The court chose for him a preventive measure in the form of house arrest.
Administrative charges were filed against the driver for violating traffic rules. It also turned out that he was in the status of a suspect in a criminal case – he was handed over to representatives of the Military Law Enforcement Service.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

As reported, a conflict broke out between a driver and a pedestrian in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, which ended in shooting. The man behind the wheel shot several times at the passerby, wounding him.
