Iran has rebuilt much of its missile arsenal during the eight-week truce and is likely to have received new Russian-made weapons. Western intelligence estimates suggest Tehran currently has about 75% of its pre-war stockpile and is capable of further increasing its stockpile.
This is reported by Bloomberg .
According to Western allies, Iran has restored a significant portion of its missile capabilities during the eight-week ceasefire and has likely added new Russian weapons to its arsenal.
According to one intelligence assessment, the recovered stockpile includes Russian missiles manufactured within the past year. However, the Russian Defense Ministry has not commented on this information.
Intelligence estimates suggest that Iran now has about 75% of the ammunition it had in service before the war, up from about 60% in March.
From February 28 to April 8, when the ceasefire came into effect, Iran fired more than 1,850 missiles, as well as at least twice as many Shahed.
In the first month of the war, the US and Israel claimed to have destroyed about two-thirds of Iran’s launchers. US Secretary of Defense Pete Haggett claimed in mid-March that Iran’s offensive capabilities had been reduced by 90%.
The report notes that a significant portion of Iran’s ballistic missiles and launchers were located in underground storage facilities, the entrances to which were blocked by rubble. Intelligence estimates suggest that during the ceasefire, Tehran could regain access to these facilities and relocate its weapons stockpiles.
Kelly Grieco, a senior fellow at the Stimson Center, a Washington think tank, noted that Iran is capable of continuing to produce weapons even in times of war.
“It’s hard to completely shut down production, especially when it’s spread across multiple facilities,” said Kelly Grieco.
Becca Wasser, head of defense at Bloomberg Economics, said Iran has demonstrated the ability to quickly rebuild its missile capabilities.
“Despite all the tactical successes claimed by the United States, they have failed to achieve their goal of crippling Iran’s defense-industrial base or significantly weakening its missile program. Iran has demonstrated impressive resilience and the ability to rebuild its missile arsenal,” said Becca Wasser.
As a reminder, Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to shipping amid a new escalation with the United States. However, Washington claims that the movement of ships through the strategic sea route continues as usual.
As reported, on the night of June 11, the United States continued its military operation against Iran and launched a new series of strikes on facilities that, according to the American side, are related to the country’s defense infrastructure.
It should be noted that the US launched new strikes on Iranian territory after an Iranian drone shot down an American AH-64 Apache attack helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz .
