Iran has put forward conditions for the restoration of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and has declared its readiness to keep it closed. The key demand is full compensation for the damages caused by the war.

This is reported by Clash Report.

According to Majlis Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran plans to introduce a new legal regime in the strait, which will include charging special transit fees to ships passing through the waterway.

The funds received, according to the Iranian side, should be used to cover the losses the country suffered as a result of the fighting.

The statement also contains criticism of the United States and Israel. The Iranian side accused Washington of actions that, according to them, are exacerbating the situation in the region.

“Your actions are dragging the United States into a real hell that will affect every family. Because of your persistent pursuit of Netanyahu’s course, the entire region has been put under threat of a large-scale fire,” the appeal says.

Iran also emphasized that forceful methods will not resolve the conflict, and called for an end to actions they call dangerous.

“War crimes will not benefit either side,” Iranian officials said.

The day before, US President Donald Trump said that countries affected by Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz should “take their own oil.”

Earlier it was reported that Iran had blocked the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf , a key route for oil supplies from the Middle East. The movement of oil tankers in the strait has been effectively halted, and ships have reduced their speed to zero.

As is known, in his first statement, the new leader of Iran emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed . According to him, this is pressure on Israel and the United States.

As a reminder, French President Emmanuel Macron announced an upcoming mission to gradually restore shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
