Kremlin propaganda in France: EU imposes sanctions against former head of RT France

The Council of the European Union has imposed sanctions on the former head of RT France, Ksenia Fedorova. Brussels said she participated in Russian information manipulation and interference directed against the EU and its member states.

This was announced by the Council of the EU.

Fedorova was the president and director of information at RT France. According to the Council of the EU, in this position she participated in shaping and disseminating the channel’s editorial line, including pro-Russian narratives regarding Russia’s war against Ukraine.

After RT’s broadcasting was suspended in the European Union, Fedorova, as noted in Brussels, continued to disseminate messages in line with the positions of the Russian authorities in the French media CNews, Europe 1, and Le JDNews.

This concerns, in particular, the topics of the war against Ukraine, support for Kyiv from Europe, NATO, and relations between Russia and the EU.

The sanctions imposed include a freeze on Fedorova’s assets . EU citizens and companies are also prohibited from providing her with funds, financial assets or other economic resources.

Following this decision, EU sanctions within the framework of the mechanism for countering Russia’s destabilizing activities apply to 81 individuals and 20 legal entities .

The EU created this sanctions regime in October 2024 to counter actions that undermine the security, stability, independence and democratic processes in the EU and its member states. Brussels includes, in particular, sabotage, cyberattacks and information manipulation as such actions.

Recall that in June, the EU imposed new sanctions against Russia, in particular against Kremlin propagandists .

Previously, the European Union also imposed personal sanctions against Russian TV presenters and journalists , who were linked in Brussels to spreading propaganda in support of the war against Ukraine.
