Kudrytskyi Case”: Power Games That Could Blow Up Ukraine’s Energy Front

War is no time for political games — shove them aside and judge every action by one yardstick: did it help win? Anything else is a betrayal of those at the front.

We are witnessing an absolutely disgraceful case — the arrest (and, incredibly, the theft of his phone by the police!) of the former head of Ukrenergo, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi.

If we evaluate Kudrytskyi’s record, it’s not hard to see a few crucial things:

  1. Before the invasion, Kudrytskyi was the one who organized the synchronization of Ukraine’s energy system with the European grid, successfully passing through numerous inspections and rigorous EU procedures.

  2. Just hours before the full-scale invasion, it was Kudrytskyi who disconnected Ukraine’s power system from the Russian and Belarusian grids — preventing Moscow from triggering an energy collapse in the first days of the war.

  1. During Kudrytskyi’s tenure, Ukrenergo built more protective structures at energy facilities than all other market players combined. This became possible because Kudrytskyi’s Ukrenergo secured $1.5 billion in loans and credits for fortifications, while Minister Herman Halushchenko’s Energy Ministry attracted only about $500 million.

In plain terms, without the political noise and finger-pointing, Kudrytskyi was exceptionally effective in his position.

Now, as the enemy intensifies its attacks on our energy infrastructure, removing an effective head of Ukrenergo does not, to put it mildly, help Ukraine win the war.

To put it bluntly: if you have no light at home today, it’s a direct consequence of replacing a competent leader with a loyal subordinate of Herman Halushchenko.

Political games during war are evil.
Infighting during war is evil.
Irresponsibility, incompetence, and the illusion that “things will somehow work out” during war are absolute evil.

The shameful story of Kudrytskyi’s arrest will go down in history as just as disgraceful as the years-long, fruitless attempts to imprison professionals like Andriy Pyvovarsky or Andriy Kobolev.

This shit needs to stop immediately!!

We will remind, the former executive director of NPC Ukrenergo, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, became a subject of an investigation conducted by the State Bureau of Investigation. Investigators are checking his involvement in abuse of office and misappropriation of state company funds. The check concerns a possible artificial increase in the volume of deforestation and overestimation of the cost of work during the construction of energy highways.

Later, it became known that the State Bureau of Investigation raised new suspicions against businessman Ihor Hrynkevich, who is currently in custody, and detained the former head of Ukrenergo, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi,  in the Lviv region. He is accused of fraud on a particularly large scale and the legalization of funds obtained by criminal means.

On October 29, the Pechersk Court of Kyiv chose a preventive measure for Kudrytskyi – he was sent to custody for two months, until December 26, with the possibility of bail for 13 million 730 thousand hryvnias.
