Legal trash with signs of terror: lawyer about searches at Yuzhanina’s family

The searches of Nina Yuzhanina’s family have no legal basis, but are merely a method of pressure on political opponents of the current government. Moreover, such “legal trash” contains signs of terror against the opposition, while Russian agents continue to freely promote the ideas of the “Russian world” in Ukraine.

This opinion was expressed on the air of “Pryamoy” by public figure, candidate of legal sciences Andriy Smolii.

“It just seems to me that since 2019 we have had some kind of full-fledged daily trash, associated with many law enforcement agencies. Some investigations of the case are absolutely commissioned, some accusations, which are then dragged out in the courts and are not proven by anyone or anything. The terror of people is not the first time. And we have already seen how many times this kind of terror has been used against the opposition – when they broke into apartments, when they were monitored,” Smolii noted.

In his opinion, such things only indicate political persecution of the opposition, not real investigative actions.

“All these things do not indicate a state governed by the rule of law. They do not indicate that law enforcement officers want to prove something. If they would like to prove something or find something, they can safely report it. There is an appropriate warrant for this, there is a specific notification that we will come and conduct some investigative actions there… And when they burst in at six in the morning, when they specially organize this kind of pressure, when they publish various kinds of ordered materials and articles on various kinds of Internet resources – it looks like a political order, like political persecution, like a desire to shut someone’s mouth, like pressure on certain political activities,” the public figure is convinced.

At the same time, he emphasized that the current government is using repression against political opponents, while forgetting about the real perpetrators working for the benefit of the Russian Federation.

“For some reason, the opinions of the “Russian world” are still tolerated in our country. And in these same law enforcement agencies and in other matters, there are very few questions for those who climb all kinds of YouTube channels or walk our streets and here de facto call out “Russian world”. But for people who have a different point of view on economic issues, on social issues, on issues of democracy in our country, on issues of freedom of speech, on issues of the political process, as you can see, law enforcement officers are ready to come to them and are ready to show the position, which is very different from the position that should be in a democratic state,” noted Andriy Smolii, candidate of legal sciences.

“Unfortunately, nothing is changing. And, unfortunately, indeed, as Ms. Yuzhanina says, it seems that we will still have to move for many years to become a democratic state, where democratic principles will be protected and where there will be no violations of current legislation,” the studio guest summed up.

The day before, investigators from the State Bureau of Investigation came to the son of the People’s Deputy from the European Solidarity faction, Nina Yuzhanina, with an “urgent search”. They arrived at the apartment where three minor children were staying and stayed there for six hours. The son was not informed of the suspicion. The deputies and lawyers stated about a certain psychological terror.

“The searches of the son of the People’s Deputy from “European Solidarity” Nina Yuzhanina in the presence of three young children are the result of the work of this “special group” in continuing the campaign of intimidation of our team. It has already become a “tradition” when they burst in at six in the morning for a search, without any court decision, and even by “Portnov’s investigative group,” the political force says in a statement .

European Solidarity MP Nina Yuzhanina commented on the SBI searches of her children’s apartment. The parliamentarian noted that she did not sign a mandate at the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion to take her grandchildren away, and remained to work in Ukraine. She will not sign a mandate now, when the authorities are trying to intimidate her family .

Earlier, lawyer Ihor Golovan stated at a briefing after the search of the children of Nina Yuzhanina, a member of parliament from the European Solidarity faction, that he had never seen such cynicism in his practice .
