Increased geomagnetic activity with several peak days is forecast in Ukraine from January 16 to 19. Magnetic storms can affect the well-being of weather-sensitive people and those with chronic diseases.
This is reported by Meteoagent .
According to forecasts, a moderate magnetic storm with an activity level of Kp-4 is expected on Friday, January 16. A short-term increase in geomagnetic activity is possible in the afternoon.
On Saturday, January 17 , geomagnetic activity will increase to the Kp-5 level, which corresponds to the red level G1. This day is considered one of the most sensitive in the specified period.
On Sunday, January 18 , the magnetic storm will remain at the Kp-5 level, and the geomagnetic background will be unstable throughout the day.
On Monday, January 19 , a gradual decrease in activity to Kp-3–4 levels is forecast, but complete stabilization of the magnetic field is not yet expected.
Experts explain that magnetic storms are disturbances in the Earth’s magnetic field caused by solar flares and solar wind flows. During periods of increased solar activity, they can affect not only the operation of satellites and communications, but also people’s well-being.
People with cardiovascular diseases, hypertensive and hypotensive patients, weather-dependent individuals, individuals with chronic fatigue, the elderly, pregnant women, as well as those who have sleep disorders or are under prolonged stress are most likely to react to geomagnetic fluctuations.
Among the possible symptoms during magnetic storms, experts call:
- headache,
- dizziness,
- weakness,
- drowsiness,
- increased anxiety,
- blood pressure fluctuations,
- palpitation,
- irritability,
- exacerbation of chronic diseases.
To reduce the impact of magnetic storms on your well-being, doctors advise avoiding overwork, sticking to a stable daily routine, sleeping at least 7–9 hours, drinking enough water, and eating a healthy diet.
It is also recommended to limit coffee, alcohol, and heavy meals, ventilate the room more often, spend more time outdoors, reduce physical and psycho-emotional stress, and regularly monitor blood pressure. People with chronic diseases are advised to follow their doctor’s recommendations and have the necessary medications on hand.
