The Hungarian authorities will conduct an internal investigation into the seizure of Ukrainian collectors and Oschadbank funds, known as the Ukrainian “gold convoy” case.
This was reported by the head of the Hungarian government, Peter Magyar, on the social network X.
According to him, the inspection will be carried out at the National Tax and Customs Administration, the Counter-Terrorism Center, and other relevant government agencies.
“We have instructed to conduct an immediate internal investigation in the National Tax and Customs Administration, the Counter-Terrorism Center, and other relevant bodies in connection with the Ukrainian “golden convoy” case. The Prosecutor General must immediately address this issue,” Magyar wrote.
Ukraine has repeatedly called on the Hungarian side to objectively investigate all circumstances of the seizure of Ukrainian collectors and Oschadbank’s valuables, as well as to ensure proper compensation for the physical and moral damage caused.
As previously reported, Ukraine returned funds and valuables to Oschadbank, which Hungarian special services seized in March of this year during the detention of Ukrainian collectors.
We remind you that the Hungarian authorities are ready to transfer two confiscated cars from Oschadbank to Ukraine, however, they do not plan to return the funds and gold.
