Massive Strikes on Ukraine: Is There Any Logic Behind Russian Terrorism?

The conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine are interconnected parts of a single “military theater,” driven by Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin. His warped logic fuels terrorist attacks on Ukrainian soil, serving his broader strategic goals.

This opinion was expressed on the air of “Pryamyі” by military expert Mykhailo Prytula.

“This is one military theater. There is a northern front — Ukraine, and a southern front — Israel. It is worth remembering that Moscow has always feared these two peoples — Ukrainians and Jews. At one time, they even published caricatures in “Perets” about their unity. This was very important for the Kremlin to maintain its power,” Prytula noted.

Today, according to him, it is precisely geopolitical events that fuel the “psychoses” existing within the Kremlin. Russia has lost control over Iran, which could lead to the unblocking of Iranian gas supplies to Europe — a scenario Moscow is extremely keen to prevent.

“Iran was one of Russia’s most important allies, allowing Moscow to hope for significant gas revenues. If Iran reverts to being a normal secular country without ambitions to destroy anyone, a large volume of gas from its massive fields will flow to Europe. These are some of the largest gas fields in the world. This factor is crucial for Russia,” the military expert explains.

At the same time, he believes the Kremlin chose to appease Vladimir Putin and demonstrate the so-called “power” of the Russian army by carrying out terrorist attacks on Ukrainian territory.

“Now that Putin is losing influence, he is starting to lose his grip on reality. His commanders feel the need to show him results, to demonstrate their destructive capabilities. The logic is moronic, but unfortunately, this is the logic of the Russians. They seek to ingratiate themselves with the supreme leader by striking civilian populations. Of course, these attacks are showcased directly to Putin in a one-man theater, showing missiles hitting a residential building in Kyiv. That’s it — all ‘military logic,’” Prytula concludes.

“Nevertheless, they will continue to act exactly this way. They will escalate strikes precisely against targets they can reach — the civilian population. This can be compared to Tehran’s tactics, which also target public squares in Israel rather than military facilities, aiming solely to terrorize the population. The logic is identical, and they have no other option but to act this way,” the military expert emphasized.
We remind on the night of June 17 (from 8:00 PM on June 16), the enemy launched an attack with 472 air attack vehicles. Air defense forces neutralized 428 targets: 262 were shot down, and 166 missed their intended locations. The primary target of the enemy’s attack was Kyiv.   The attack resulted in 14 fatalities and over 50 injuries. Furthermore, the Russians struck Odessa with drones. As a result of the shelling, there are casualties, including injured children.

Later, Mayor Vitaly Klitschko confirmed that Russian forces used cluster bombs to strike Kyiv on June 17 to kill as many people as possible. This is not the first time cluster munitions have been used. Russia has previously deployed drones that, when shot down, release cluster bombs capable of detonating unpredictably.

Meanwhile, in Kyiv, June 18 was declared a Day of Mourning. In memory of the victims of the massive enemy attack on the capital.
