Meat and dairy products will become more expensive in Ukraine: how much will prices increase before Easter

Ukraine is seeing rising dairy and meat prices due to rising logistics costs, declining livestock numbers, and global market trends. This could lead to a 6-12 percent increase in milk prices by the end of March and a more significant increase in meat prices before Easter.

The dairy market is affected by global trends through changes in supply and demand. World prices for milk and dairy raw materials in February 2026 fell by 1.2 percent compared to January and by almost 20 percent compared to February last year, which affected the prices of Ukrainian dairy raw materials.
At the same time, keeping cows on farms is becoming more difficult, leading to a reduction in dairy herds. As a result, producers are forced to spend more on animal husbandry and logistics, which directly affects final prices in stores.
As of March, the average cost of dairy products in Ukrainian stores is as follows:
- “Prostonashe” milk (1%, 900 ml) – 60.22 hryvnias;
- “Yagotynske” milk (2.6%, 900 ml) – 61.25 hryvnias;
- kefir “Selyansky” (2.5%, 950 ml) – 69.85 hryvnias;
- sour cream “President” (15%, 350 g) – 57.69 hryvnia;
- cream “Prostonashe” (10%, 200 ml) – 38.81 hryvnias;
- margarine “Olkom”, creamy (72.5%, 200 g) – 42.45 hryvnias;
- “Selyanske” butter (72.5%, 200 g) – 116.90 hryvnia;
- “Zveni Hora” hard cheese, Dutch (45%, 1 kg) – 678.25 hryvnias.
“Despite the fall in world prices for raw materials, logistics and animal husbandry have become more expensive. This will lead to a moderate increase in prices for dairy products in the coming weeks, especially by the end of March,” explained UCAB analyst Maksym Hopka.
As for meat, there is currently enough of it on the market, so prices have remained stable for now. The main expense item for producers is feed, and the increase in fuel prices is only gradually affecting the cost price.
A more significant increase in meat prices is expected closer to Easter due to the traditional increase in demand. The average cost of meat as of March 11, 2026 according to the “Minfin” portal:
- beef (goulash) – 404.30 hryvnias;
- beef (ribs) – 269.55 hryvnias;
- chicken (thigh) – 146.00 hryvnia;
- chicken (shin) – 92.00 hryvnia;
- chicken (carcass) – 102.00 hryvnia;
- chicken (fillet) – 233.00 hryvnia;
- pork (breast) – 212.23 hryvnias;
- pork (shoulder) – 227.53 hryvnias;
- pork (neck) – 317.32 hryvnias;
- pork (belly) – 224.00 hryvnia;
- pork (ribs) – 232.00 hryvnia;
- pork (kebab) – 293.88 hryvnias.
“Producers usually have their own stocks of feed, so the increase in fuel costs does not immediately affect the price of meat. The effect will appear gradually, especially before the holidays, when demand traditionally increases,” Hopka added.
Thus, Ukrainians should expect a moderate increase in dairy product prices in the coming weeks and a more significant increase in meat prices before Easter, which is due to both domestic and global factors.
