The statements of Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin about the Oreshnik ballistic missile complex are just a media stunt and an attempt to put pressure on Europe and Ukraine. After all, this non-nuclear weapon has the effect of conventional artillery shells, so its significance is exaggerated.
This opinion was expressed on the air of “Pryamoy” by Ivan Stupak, a military analyst and employee of the SBU (2004-2015).
“Look, “Oreshnik” is a media story. This is exclusively about the media image, we do not exaggerate its importance. We saw it working in the Dnieper. We know that “Oreshnik” is a “Universal” complex. This is the main part, which was once manufactured in Ukraine at the “Pivdenmash” enterprise and transferred to the Russian Federation a long time ago. We do not know whether they were able to establish a serial production of these modules, these six-by-six warheads that are being revealed,” Stupak noted.
According to him, without “nuclear execution,” such weapons have the effect of conventional artillery shells, so such statements should be regarded only as a media story.
“The news emerged during the meeting between Lukashenko and Putin that Russia will transfer the Oreshnik to Belarus, they are choosing the place where it will be placed. I will now reveal to you a great Russian state and military secret. This Oreshnik complex in its usual version, this warhead, when it hits the target, has the effect of exploding a regular Soviet-made artillery shell. That is, without the nuclear version, it is just 36 artillery shells, but the media significance is really huge,” the military analyst explains.
“This is designed for us, this is designed for Europeans. What is the final goal? I think even Lukashenko and Putin themselves do not know, because this is the only thing they have recently that can be threatened, and which is so intermediate between conventional weapons and nuclear weapons. This is the intermediate one that they are threatening,” summed up former SBU employee Ivan Stupak.
Recall, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, stated that the first serial model of the Oreshnik ballistic missile system has already been transferred to the Russian army . At the same time, he emphasized that he is ready to end the war on the terms that were announced in June 2024.
Meanwhile, amid threats from Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, US President Donald Trump announced the deployment of two nuclear submarines in the relevant regions.
As is known, on July 28, US President Donald Trump announced a new deadline for Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine. He gave Putin 10-12 days to resolve the issue of Ukraine. In addition, Donald Trump said that he was no longer interested in meeting with the Kremlin dictator .
In response to Trump’s threats to impose sanctions against Russia within 10 days if it does not begin to take real steps towards peace in Ukraine, the Kremlin responded that Russia “has been living under a huge number of sanctions for quite some time,” and the country’s economy “operates under significant restrictions.”
Later, information emerged that US President Donald Trump wanted to agree to end Russia’s war against Ukraine by August 8 .
