Czech defense company LPP has completed the development of a new long-range cruise missile, Narwhal, and is already conducting the final stages of testing.
According to Aktualne, the final tests are to take place in Ukraine — in real combat conditions against Russian forces.
The first combat use of the missile is expected in January-February 2026, and the Czech Republic plans to begin mass production in March.

What is known about Narwhal’s capabilities?
Defense Express analysts emphasize that the new missile significantly enhances the potential of strike capabilities:
The range of destruction is up to 680 km: this is enough to reach targets deep inside the Russian Federation – all the way to Moscow or the strategic aviation airbase in Engels.
Speed – up to 750 km/h.
The warhead weighs 120 kg, which is significantly more powerful than the Shahed (50–90 kg).
Modern navigation: GPS, probably inertial system and visual navigation, which allows operation even when GPS is completely suppressed by electronic warfare systems.
Flexible launch options: from a catapult, runway/road via a trolley or using a solid-propellant booster.
Dimensions of Narwhal
length — 4 m
span — 2.6 m
weight — 260 kg
Comparison with the American Barracuda 500M
Narwhal demonstrates a number of advantages over the American Barracuda 500M:
more powerful warhead (120 kg versus 45–85 kg)
more modern guidance systems
better or comparable range (Barracuda — 500–900 km depending on warhead)
The only advantage of the Barracuda is the price: $216.5 thousand.
The cost of Narwhal has not yet been disclosed, but analysts predict it will be higher.
As a reminder, on Monday, November 17, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and French leader Emmanuel Macron signed a declaration on cooperation in the defense sector.
As reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he had ordered one hundred Rafale fighter jets from France for the Ukrainian army. This should significantly strengthen Ukraine’s air force and its defense potential.
By the way, several Ukrainian companies have launched a full production cycle of engines for long-range drones, from casting the hulls to final assembly. Currently, current production capacities do not fully cover the needs of the front, which is holding back the increase in serial production.
