NBU fined Ukrposhta for almost UAH 2.5 million: what is the reason?

The National Bank of Ukraine fined JSC Ukrposhta almost UAH 2.5 million for violating the requirements of legislation in the field of payment services.
This was reported by the NBU press service.
It is known that the company violated the requirements of a number of regulatory and legal acts, in particular:

- Law of Ukraine “On Payment Services”;

- Instructions on the procedure for organizing cash operations by banks and conducting payment transactions by payment service providers in Ukraine, approved by the resolution of the NBU Board;

- Rules for the storage, protection, use and disclosure of the secrecy of the payment service provider, approved by the resolution of the NBU Board;

- Regulations on the procedure for issuing and acquiring payment instruments, approved by a resolution of the NBU Board.
In particular, Ukrposhta must pay the fine within 14 days after receiving the relevant decision of the National Bank.
Earlier, “Pryamiy” reported that the General Director of JSC “Ukrposhta” Ihor Smilyanskyi reacted to the decision of the National Bank, which recognized him as not meeting the requirements for the head of a financial payment services provider. The head of the company called the NBU’s actions a “settling of scores” and stated that he would appeal this decision.
The National Bank of Ukraine also recognized the General Director of JSC “Ukrposhta” Ihor Smilyansky as not meeting the requirements for professional suitability. According to the regulator’s decision, the company must appoint a new head.
