The cost of a New Year’s table in 2026 for an average Ukrainian family of 4 people will be about 3,980 hryvnias. This is 10.7% more than last year, and a table with delicacies will cost 4,793 hryvnias.

This is reported by the Institute of Agrarian Economics.

It is noted that the calculation of the cost of the New Year’s table was made based on average prices in Ukrainian supermarkets as of mid-December 2025. Yuriy Lupenko, Director of the Institute of Agrarian Economics, explained the reasons for the increase in product prices.

“The increase in the cost of the New Year’s table is clearly caused by the consequences of military actions – significant losses in the economy, reduced production and product shortages,” said Yuriy Lupenko.

According to analysts’ estimates, Olivier salad with 3 kilograms of products will cost 406.87 hryvnias, which is 5.8% more expensive than last year. The most expensive ingredient remains sausage, the price of which is 180 hryvnias per 0.5 kilogram, which is 12.5% more. At the same time, vegetables have become significantly cheaper.

Potatoes cost 8.50 hryvnias for 580 grams, carrots – 3.18 hryvnias for 280 grams, onions – 1.75 hryvnias for 230 grams.

Preparing the “Herring under a Fur Coat” salad from 1.57 kilograms of products will cost 174.83 hryvnias, which is 4% more than last year. The main part of the cost is the herring fillet, which costs 135 hryvnias for 0.5 kilograms.

The cost of meat products has increased by 23%. Chicken fillet costs 244 hryvnias per 1 kilogram, pork – 339 hryvnias per 1 kilogram. Dairy products have also become more expensive. Hard cheese in a 300-gram package costs 176 hryvnias, butter in a 200-gram package costs 118 hryvnias.

Additional expenses are formed by delicacies. 100 grams of red caviar costs 469 hryvnias, and 180 grams of red fish – 344 hryvnias.

Fish prices, according to the Ministry of Finance, range from 183.50 hryvnias per 1 kilogram of live carp to 254.63 hryvnias per 1 kilogram of freshly frozen mackerel.

Analysts note that the decline in vegetable prices has partially offset the overall increase in the cost of the holiday table. 2 kilograms of potatoes cost 29 hryvnias, and fruit will cost an average of 200 hryvnias, which is 22% less than last year.

Prices for drinks, bread, and sweets have also increased. A loaf of white bread costs 35 hryvnias, and chocolates cost 326 hryvnias per kilogram.

Alcoholic beverages have also become more expensive. A 0.75 liter bottle of Artemivske sparkling wine costs 239 hryvnias, Vardiani Pirosmani wine costs 98.73 hryvnias, and Khlibny Dar Classic vodka costs 125.50 hryvnias.

Yuriy Lupenko concluded that most Ukrainians will be forced to save on a traditional set of products, despite the decline in vegetable prices, as the impact of the war and high energy costs remain key factors in the price increase.

Previously, “Pryamiy” reported that on New Year’s Eve, Ukrainians are preparing for the celebration taking into account the symbolism of the year of the Fire Horse. It is believed that properly selected dishes and table setting can emphasize the energy of the year and create a festive atmosphere . At the same time, the wrong choice of menu can disrupt the festive atmosphere and energy of the year.

As you know, the New Year 2026 will be celebrated under the sign of the Fire Horse , which symbolizes movement, strength and renewal. The symbol of the year determines the key approaches to the festive image, New Year’s table and Christmas tree decoration.
