I may not be in the “mainstream”, but I dare to assert that my position is well-reasoned and fair: this year, the loudest call to end wars and establish peace, and the wisest decision of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, would be not to award the Nobel Peace Prize to anyone!

APPEAL to the Norwegian Nobel Committee
Dear committee members!
Your decision regarding the award and presentation of this year’s Nobel Peace Prize must be in keeping with the specifics of this moment in human history.
Your predecessors were also fully aware of this when they made the right decisions not to award this prize to anyone during the years when wars raged, in particular, in 1914-1916 and in 1939-1943.
Now, when a major war is raging in Europe, and all attempts to stop the aggressor with calls for peace have not led to any results, when the Middle East is far from peace, when time-delayed mines are being laid in different corners of the world, from Africa to the Indo-Pacific region, when the doomsday clock has moved even closer to the critical mark, when the world is on the verge of regional wars and, regrettably, a third world war is not excluded, it would probably be inappropriate.
It is impossible to ignore the fact that several million people have already been killed or seriously injured in the past and this year, more than a million in Russia’s war against Ukraine alone.
Tens of thousands of innocent civilians killed, including children and women, who most of all had the right to life and peace, millions who are under occupation by aggressors, billions who fear the outbreak of a nuclear arms race amid the expiration of nuclear arms reduction treaties, need a powerful signal to prevent a catastrophe.
The respect for the Nobel Committee, for each of its members, is enormous, and your decision can have a real impact. If you make another award under these conditions, it is unlikely to be adequate to today’s situation.
Your decision must be understandable to millions of ordinary people who, unfortunately, suffer from wars and military conflicts and do not see this peace now. Your decision must be the last reminder of the approaching catastrophe. Your decision must be fair.
With all due respect to the hundreds of nominees, among whom there are indeed people whose contribution to building a peaceful world order is important and which we all value, they should understand your decision.
To be heard in all corners of the world where wars rage, to be heard in the offices of the leaders of nuclear powers, to make your voice loud and your final decision as influential as possible – you must make a powerful call for peace!
This year, the only right decision is not to award the Nobel Peace Prize to anyone!
