Over a thousand cases in a week: coronavirus incidence has increased sharply in Kyiv

In Kyiv, 1,121 new cases of coronavirus were registered from August 18 to 24. This is 418 more people than in the previous week.

This was reported by the Kyiv City Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Doctors noted that the incidence rate increased by almost 1.6 times. In the period from August 18 to 24, 933 adults became ill with coronavirus. While in the previous period – 632.

188 children also fell ill, although 71 cases of coronavirus were recorded in Duta during the previous period.

It is known that six adults are in intensive care due to coronavirus, three of them are over 65 years old.

In addition, a new strain of coronavirus – Stratus – was discovered.

Earlier , Kyiv recorded a rapid increase in hospitalizations due to COVID-19 . In a month, the number of patients in hospitals increased more than fourfold, a quarter of them children.
