Prices for Christmas 2025 were shocking: what has risen the most in price

The cost of a traditional Christmas table in 2025 has practically not increased and is 1,374 UAH according to average prices in Ukrainian supermarkets as of early December. Last year’s figure was 1,365 UAH.

This is reported by the Institute of Agrarian Economics.

Experts attribute the stabilization of prices to a record harvest of borscht, thanks to which the prices of potatoes, carrots, cabbage, onions, and beets have more than halved.

Instead, a number of other products have become more expensive, including:

oil — +26.7%

frozen cherries — +25.7%

barrel cucumbers — +25.2%

white beans — +18.3%

flour — +17.5%

carp — +12.6%

fresh tomatoes — +12.5%

Kutia — 213.37 UAH

This is the second most expensive dish. The most expensive ingredients are:

poppy seeds — 72.50 UAH for 200 g

walnuts — 68.80 UAH

raisins — 24.99 UAH per 100 g

Wheat groats cost 26.90 UAH per 400 g, honey — 18.70 UAH per 100 g.

The most expensive dish is fried carp — 346.02 UAH

2 kg of live fish will cost 339 UAH, flour – 7.02 UAH.

Uzvar — 118 UAH

A set of dried apples, pears and prunes (600 g).

Lean borscht — 107.79 UAH

The most expensive ingredient is dry white beans (51.50 UAH).

Vinaigrette — 49.77 UAH

The main share of the cost is formed by barrel cucumbers – 26.80 UAH.

Dumplings :

with potatoes — 32.83 UAH

with cabbage — 32.03 UAH

with cherries — 87.83 UAH (because cherries — 69.90 UAH for 300 g)

Stewed cabbage — 70.78 UAH

The most expensive mushrooms — 45.35 UAH.

Fried potatoes — 26.08 UAH

Pickles and fresh vegetables:

sauerkraut — 96.75 UAH per 500 g

barrel cucumbers — 53.70 UAH for 400 g

fresh cucumbers — 66.72 UAH per 500 g

fresh tomatoes — 71.90 UAH per 500 g
