Zelensky’s meeting with European leaders and Donald Trump in Washington was one of the key events of recent weeks. Putin has failed to split the collective West, at least not at this stage, with the US not breaking away.

And for this, we should thank not only European leaders, who demonstrate a high level of diplomacy in their dialogue with Trump, who briefed Zelensky before the fateful meeting (and thank God that this time there were no homegrown advisors from Bankova)…

And we should also thank Melania Trump, who seems to remind people at home about the barbaric bombings and other crimes of “Putin’s friend.” And the American press and society, which after the nightmare in Alaska completely sided with Ukraine, criticizing the condescension towards a war criminal. Trump should also take into account internal signals and dissatisfaction even among the conservative audience of the MAGA.

That is why I never tire of repeating that Ukraine should be at the negotiating table not alone, but with the Europeans. And we all need to work not only with Washington, the White House, but also the States, the media, and opinion leaders!

The main signal of the multilateral meeting is that Ukraine was and remains together with Europe. Preserving the principle of “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine and nothing about Europe” is currently a key task, it is very important that Kyiv is not alone in future rounds of peace talks. After all, the very fact of such unity destroys the plans of the Kremlin, which dreams of splitting the collective West.

Although it is equally obvious that any agreements in Washington are shattered by Kremlin realities, because Putin is not going to change his plans to completely absorb Ukraine, destroy Ukrainian identity and statehood. Therefore, you can only talk to him in the language of force!

The “bad guys” from the Kremlin will definitely try to destroy what has been achieved. That is why the main strategy should be based on pressure on Russia. Beautiful photos or declarations are good. However, Ukrainians and the world have already seen many beautiful photos over the years… Actions are very necessary – hellish sanctions, military aid to Ukraine and political pressure that forces the Kremlin to comply with the rules.

On August 18, Zelensky acted much more confidently and cautiously. European partners provided professional training and helped find the right tone in a conversation with Trump. The meeting began with an emotional detail – the president handed over a letter from his wife, Mrs. Zelenska, to First Lady Melania Trump, who addressed Putin with a message regarding the fate of the kidnapped Ukrainian children. He also presented Trump with a golf club from a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. International politics and personal contacts often consist of such important little things. Putin is very successful in using such tools of flattery and flattery.

What do we have at the exit? There is no betrayal. This is important, because Putin is waiting for discord and weakness in the West.
