The protracted military conflict in the Middle East poses direct threats to Ukraine’s defense capabilities due to the possible depletion of Western resources. The attention of allies may shift to the Iranian direction, which is beneficial to the Russian Federation.

This opinion was expressed on the air of “Pryamoye” by diplomat Dmitry Chekalkin.

“Delaying this operation will inevitably lead to a distraction from our front, a diversion of resources, a diversion of large stocks of weapons, and, accordingly, an increase in the price of oil on world markets, which will again benefit Russia,” he noted.

One of the key objectives of the US-Israeli operation is to stop Tehran’s nuclear program and end its military cooperation with Moscow. In particular, this involves limiting the supply of cheap energy resources to China, which could become a lever of pressure on Beijing in matters of supporting aggression against Ukraine, the diplomat explains.

Chekalkin also pointed to the symbolism of the operation, which the American side called Epic Fury. In his opinion, the success of this campaign should deprive Iran of the opportunity to finance its proxy forces, such as Hezbollah and Hamas, which have been destabilizing global security for decades.

As a reminder, on February 28, Israel and the United States launched preemptive strikes on Iran , as well as attacking Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. Later, it became known that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed as a result of the US-Israeli operation. His body has allegedly already been found.

The Israel Defense Forces also announced the elimination of representatives of Iran’s “top security leadership” during Operation Year of the Lion. The agency released the names of the officials it said were killed, but Tehran has not officially confirmed these reports.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump announced the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei . According to him, the operation was carried out in cooperation with Israel, and the strikes will continue.

Instead, Iran has blocked the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf, a key oil supply route from the Middle East. According to journalists, a number of major companies have suspended the transport of crude oil and fuel through the Strait of Hormuz, which carries about 20% of the world’s oil consumption.

At the same time, Saudi Arabia strongly condemned Iran’s aggression against the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Jordan and declared its readiness to “provide all its capabilities to support them in all measures they take.”
