Russia may try to use the Union State collective security treaty to drag Belarus into the war and use its human and training resources.

This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

It is known that ISW previously predicted that the Russian Federation may try to use the population of Belarus as a human resource to replenish the army. After all, Russia has been experiencing a shortage of human resources since May 2022.

Also, according to the Treaty on the Union State, Russians and Belarusians have common elements of civil status, so the Kremlin can try to recruit Belarusian citizens into its army, citing alleged equal rights within this association.

Using this treaty, Moscow can argue that Belarusian citizens also have corresponding civic duties and are responsible under the legislation of the Union State.

In particular, according to the ISW forecast, a possible scenario is that Russian officials will insist that Belarusian citizens must serve in the Russian army or in Russian-controlled military formations of the Union State.

Belarus has also been materially supporting Russia’s war against Ukraine since 2022 and is in fact its ally.

In this context, any legitimate strike by Ukraine on Belarusian infrastructure that supports Russia’s war effort does not constitute an escalation.

It was previously reported that after a series of launches against Ukraine , Russia may have only one combat-ready Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile left . Analysts believe that Moscow may have used up a significant portion of its stockpile of such missiles.

Russia may also use videos created by artificial intelligence to convince audiences of its alleged successes near Kostyantynivka in the Donetsk region.
