Russian losses in September broke the record of 2026 – General Staff

In September, the Russian army suffered 46,230 casualties, the highest monthly figure in 2026.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the General Staff, September’s losses exceeded the previous high recorded in the summer. In July, Russian troops lost 42,860 people, and in August – 42,020.

Dynamics of Russian personnel losses in 2026:

  • January – 31,710 ;
  • February – 26,090 ;
  • March – 31,960 ;
  • April – 32,980 ;
  • May – 33,760 ;
  • June – 39,290 ;
  • July – 42,860 ;
  • August – 42,020 ;
  • September – 46,230 .

Compared to January, the September figure increased by 14,520 people, or 45.8% .

“The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to inflict systematic and tangible losses in manpower and equipment on the Russian occupation forces along the entire line of combat contact,” the General Staff noted.

The department linked this dynamic to the increase in the accuracy and effectiveness of the defeat of Russian troops by Ukrainian units.

Recall, the General Staff previously reported that as of mid-September, the losses of the Russian army since the beginning of 2026 exceeded 300 thousand people.

In addition, Russia lost 42,860 military personnel in July – at the time, one of the highest monthly casualties since the start of the full-scale war.
