Russian oil is flowing into Europe again: why the “sanctions front” is cracking

The supply of Russian raw materials through the Druzhba oil pipeline to the European Union was fully restored on the night of April 23. This event coincided with the finalization of the procedure for providing Ukraine with a loan of 90 billion euros, which must be approved by the EU Council.
People’s Deputy from “European Solidarity” Nina Yuzhanina commented on the resumption of transit through the “Druzhba” oil pipeline on the air of “Pryamoy”.
At the same time, she expressed misunderstanding regarding the advisability of the personal participation of the President of Ukraine in the meeting in Cyprus, since the process has already been launched.
“On the one hand, Ukraine is given a loan and, in particular, there is a military unit there to purchase weapons and everything else. But on the other hand, we are forced to open up again the opportunity for our enemy, the Russian Federation, to receive income from the sale of oil. Well, it looks strange in any case,” the studio guest noted.
According to the MP, the situation is complicated by the position of Hungary and Slovakia, which use the energy issue as a tool of influence. Despite the fact that the loan for 2026-2027 looks agreed, legal mechanisms for bypassing the veto of these states are still being sought. The main goal remains the financial bleeding of the aggressor, but currently Russia continues to receive funds through existing oil routes, – emphasized Nina Yuzhanina.
As a reminder, on the morning of April 22, work began to resume on the Ukrainian section of the Druzhba oil pipeline – the system is being filled with oil again and the pressure is gradually being increased.
Later, it became known that the European Union finally unblocked a loan to support Ukraine for 2026-2027 and simultaneously adopted the 20th package of sanctions against Russia.
However, the restrictions against the Russian Federation will not include a complete ban on the provision of maritime services to Russian vessels transporting oil and petroleum products.
