People’s Deputy Iryna Gerashchenko reported on the critical situation with payments for internally displaced persons and pensioners. According to her, in January, more than 300,000 Ukrainians did not receive proper state assistance.
On the air of “Pryamoy”, a representative of “European Solidarity” explained that the reason was the chaos caused by government resolution No. 299, which transferred the functions of administering payments from the Ministry of Social Policy to the Pension Fund.
“With its Resolution 299, the government actually created such chaos in social payments by transferring functions from the Ministry of Social Policy to the pension fund, which does not have the appropriate qualifications and number of people to administer payments for a large category,” Gerashchenko noted.
According to her, the verification system turned out to be too complicated for older people, who often use push-button phones and cannot use digital services, which in turn led to huge queues at Pension Fund branches and blocking of funds for the most vulnerable segments of the population.
The People’s Representative urged citizens who are faced with this problem to contact her directly to resolve each specific case through parliamentary oversight.
As a reminder, 337 thousand pensioners who were refugees from the war were left without payments in the midst of a harsh winter and energy collapse. According to Artur Gerasimov, co-chair of the European Solidarity faction, payments have also been blocked for other socially vulnerable categories of citizens. He called on the government to immediately resume all payments and not shift the responsibility to people who do not have electricity, communication, and the ability to go through all bureaucratic procedures.
Later, it became known that pensions for IDPs and social payments had been unblocked . This was announced by Iryna Gerashchenko, co-chair of the European Solidarity faction, after a “tough conversation” within the conciliation council with relevant government officials.
