The number of measles cases in Ukraine has increased 10 times

In 2025, the number of measles cases in Ukraine increased tenfold.

This was announced by Deputy Minister of Health Igor Kuzin at a press conference in Kyiv.

Kuzin noted that among infectious diseases for children’s groups, measles is the number one threat.

He also added that Ukraine has had fairly high rates of morbidity for the second year in a row.

Since the beginning of 2025, 1,200 cases of the disease have been recorded, of which almost 900 are in children.

“In conclusion, I will say that measles is now the number one threat. Because measles is a dangerous disease. And it is especially necessary to catch up on vaccination against it, to get it at the first opportunity. In the case of temporary contraindications, of course, the child can get it after some time,” the representative of the Ministry of Health noted.

He added that coverage levels should be at least 95%. Ukraine has been averaging 85 to 88% in the past few years. Such rates are not optimal and lead to measles outbreaks both in healthcare facilities and in certain regions.

It was previously reported that the number of people hospitalized with the new COVID stamp is increasing in Kyiv, and among the patients there are people in serious condition .
