The offensive on Kostyantynivka: why Russia is rushing to declare victories
The Russian army continues its offensive in the Donetsk region and is trying to reach Kostyantynivka, but the Kremlin’s statements about significant successes on this section of the front do not correspond to the real situation.
CNN writes about this, citing Ukrainian military and Western analysts.
The publication notes that Russia has recently been actively reporting on advances in the Kostyantynivka area. At the same time, experts from the Institute for the Study of War emphasize that some of the territories claimed by Moscow are actually in a “gray zone” and not under full control of the occupiers.
Ukrainian military officials also confirm that the situation around the city remains tense but under control, and that the Russian advance is very slow.
According to CNN, the Kremlin’s main goal remains the complete capture of Donbas, and Konstantinovka is one of the key cities in this direction.
At the same time, the publication’s interlocutors believe that Moscow is more interested in loud informational statements about “victories” than in real results on the battlefield.
“The Russians want to declare information victories. This is how they create the impression of success, even when they do not achieve their main goals,” explained an expert from the Institute for the Study of War.
It was previously reported that the Russian army is trying to launch a new summer offensive campaign , creating a new point of tension north of Kharkiv.
Let us recall thatin the Konstantinivka direction, as of June 21, 2026, the Ukrainian military repelled 11 attacks by the Russian occupiers.
