The situation is difficult, but not critical: what is happening near Pokrovsk

The situation in Pokrovsk remains very difficult, but not catastrophic. The enemy is trying to gain a foothold in new areas of the city and is increasing its presence. At the same time, the Russians are trying to use the situation in the Pokrovsk and Kupyansk directions as an element of military-political pressure on Ukraine and the United States.

This was reported on the air of “Pryamoy” by Dmytro Snegirev, a military-political analyst and co-chair of the public initiative “Prava sprava”.

“To stabilize the situation, special forces of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine have been transferred to the Pokrovsky direction, which have practical experience in conducting combat operations in urban areas. Let me remind you that this is a positive background at the time of the use of the GUR units of the Ministry of Defense to restore Ukrainian control over the territory of the aggregate plant in Vovchansk. Then, thanks to the efforts of the GUR special forces, it was possible to regain control over this strategic point. Therefore, as we see, the response is adequate to the tactics of the Russian occupiers,” Snegirev informed.

According to him, today the main line of defense of Ukraine is the so-called citadel in Pokrovsk. Accordingly, control over these key points of Ukrainian defense is control over the city, the public figure added.

“The activity of the invaders’ assault groups in the area of the railway station, the second school, and the industrial zone has indeed been recorded. The situation is difficult, but let’s give an objective picture, not in the style of “Deepstate” – the situation is catastrophic. Over the past week, the Ukrainian defense forces have managed to deoccupy four settlements in the Pokrov direction: Kucheriv Yar, Sukhetske, Zatyshok, and Shakhove. So what catastrophic situation are these so-called analysts telling us about?” – emphasizes Snegirev.

At the same time, he is convinced, there is an attempt by the Russians to use the situation in the Pokrovskoye and Kupyanskoye directions as an element of military-political pressure on the United States and Ukraine on the eve of a possible summit at the highest representative level.

“The only thing I conditionally agree with in terms of information coverage of the situation in the Pokrovsky direction is the disagreement in assessments of the situation even among official statements by spokespeople for the Defense Forces of Ukraine. This cannot but be alarming,” noted military-political analyst Dmytro Snehirev.

As a reminder, on October 29, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced the alleged encirclement of Ukrainian troops in Pokrovsk and Kupyansk, after which he cynically suggested “ceasing hostilities” so that journalists could verify the “truthfulness” of his words.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine later denied Putin’s statements about the alleged encirclement of Kupyansk by Russian troops. The command emphasizes that the Kremlin dictator is repeating false statements by his generals, which do not correspond to the real situation on the front.

At the same time, the enemy continues to gradually penetrate Pokrovsk , increasing its presence with infantry units and increasing pressure on Ukrainian positions. At the same time, the enemy is trying to surround the city and advance to the northwest and north of the agglomeration. Russian troops are also actively using drones and artillery to control the logistics of Ukrainian troops and search for ways to infiltrate.
