The “Skelya” regiment responded to media reports about new deaths of mobilized soldiers: what they said

The 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelya” has responded to new media reports about seven more deaths of mobilized personnel during exercises. The unit said it is striving to reduce non-combat losses to zero and is cooperating with law enforcement agencies.

This was reported by the press service of the unit.

“The 425th Separate Assault Regiment carefully reviewed the information in the media about the facts of non-combat losses of seven servicemen.

First of all, we express our sincere condolences to the families of the deceased.

“As in the case of the first high-profile material, we urge the media and the public to consider each case individually – based on irrefutable facts, documents, and unbiased testimony,” the statement says.

The regiment noted that three servicemen died in the hospital, three more died of natural causes. The seventh serviceman, according to the unit, committed suicide.

“Skel” emphasized that they continue to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and consider it constructive for journalists to submit materials to investigators for verification.

The unit also denied any connection between the publication of journalistic materials in one of the publications and the searches at the company owned by a shareholder of this media outlet.

“We consider any assumptions about our involvement in pressure on independent Ukrainian media incorrect. Our unit performs only one task – systematically, professionally and effectively destroying Russian occupiers in at least 13 directions,” the regiment noted.

It was previously reported that Yuriy Harkavy, commander of the 425th separate assault regiment “Skel”, was suspended from duty for the duration of the service checks. This decision was made after an investigation by the publication “Babel”, which discussed possible deaths, torture and abuse of mobilized soldiers during training at the regiment’s training centers.

It was also reported that at least 26 recruits of the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelya” died from late 2025 to spring 2026.
